Fabrication materials and specifications of photovoltaic modules

For photovoltaic modules, what people may know is the principle of converting light into electrical energy, but they are not clear about their materials. Photovoltaic modules are generally made of six essential materials.

What materials are used to make photovoltaic modules?

1. Crystalline silicon body

Crystalline silicon has high purity, high transparency, and high memory, so it is essential for photovoltaic modules that convert light energy into electrical energy.

2. Tempered glass

Because photovoltaic modules are built outdoors, they require durable protective materials, such as tempered glass, which provides protection. At the same time, there are certain requirements for the transmittance of tempered glass, which must reach over 91%.

3. Aluminum alloy

Aluminum alloy has high oxidation resistance, high density, and plays a certain sealing and supporting role, greatly saving costs in the use of aluminum alloy.

4. Silicone gel

Silicone plays a sealing role and is used to connect components to gaps in aluminum alloy.

5 EVA

EVA is used to fix and paste the power generation body and tempered glass. EVA is also exposed to air and can be corroded by air, so the material requirements for EVA are particularly high, as the material of EVA directly affects the lifespan of the components.

6 TPT

TPT is a type of polytetrafluoroethylene used to protect the back film of photovoltaic modules. It has high corrosion resistance and many advantages.

How many specifications are there for photovoltaic modules?

The main specifications of solar photovoltaic modules include 355w, 370w, 390w, 400w, 420w, 440w, 460w, 480w, 560w, and 580w. Solar photovoltaic modules generally do not have fixed specifications and are mostly customized by manufacturers. There are many sizes of solar photovoltaic modules, mainly depending on their purpose. If they are used in power plants, 560W panels are generally used, and the size of 560W panels is 2278 * 1133 * 35 units in millimeters. Used for household and commercial purposes, there are also 420w with dimensions of 1723 * 1133 * 30 (mm). The specifications and models are different, and the length and width of solar photovoltaic modules are also different. There are two sizes of mainstream crystalline silicon solar cells: 182mm * 182mm and 210mm * 210mm.

For those with low power, the size of the photovoltaic module is relatively small, while for those with high power, the size of the photovoltaic module is also large. However, solar photovoltaic modules generally do not have fixed specifications and are mostly customized by manufacturers. Generally, silicon crystal material and packaging form are required. Nowadays, the glass packaging of monocrystalline silicon large components is basically 560W (M10 solar cells). It still depends on the specific manufacturer model. You can refer to Haoyu's SR-72MNHLPro Sea King series. The size of the 560W monocrystalline silicon module is 2278 * 1133 * 35mm, and the conversion efficiency is about 22.48%.
